Scores of parents from Safakadal area of old Srinagar city Thursday staged a protest against a Mumbai based news channel for projecting their sons as stone-pelters on its prime time show.

The channel in question was ‘Times Now’ which according to protesting parents displayed the photographs of over 8 youth, labeling them as terrorists and stone-pelters. “This Channel is infamous for its biased reporting. The shameless and biased channel ran 2008 and 2010 visuals and related those incidents to present and even labeled our sons as terrorists and stone-pelters,” said protesting parents to news agency CNS. The protesters assembled here in Press Enclave and raised anti-Times Now slogans. They alleged that the channel has been doing propaganda against innocent youth to save the police driver who mowed down young Adil of Safakadal.

“We will register an FIR against this Channel and will even question those who have sent the photographs of our sons to the channel. Without any verification and investigation, how can this channel put up pictures and project them as stone-pelters and terrorists,” they said. “It’s irony that the biased and communal anchor even accused state police of shielding stone-pelters and he in a way was inciting State to get all the youth arrested. Do police spare any stone-pelter? This Channel is rubbing salt to the wounds of people of Kashmir and it should be banned in Valley,” they said.
